Speed monitor
Speed monitor series 6000
This device is used to control and monitor the movement of a moving object, such as a conveyor belt. The speed monitor can be used in two modes:
- Over Speed
- Under Speed
Device Operation
The sensor connected to this device receives pulses proportional to the speed of the moving object and transmits them to the speed monitor. The frequency of these pulses is compared with the set value of the device, and if they do not match, the speed monitor’s output changes state.
Over Speed Mode
If the speed of the moving object exceeds the set speed, the output relay will switch off.
Under Speed Mode
If the speed of the moving object is below the set speed, the output relay will switch off.
The figure below shows the performance curve of the speed monitor in under speed mode:
Note
When the speed monitor starts operating in under speed mode, the output relay initially remains in the on state for a duration of Td seconds. The Td value can be adjusted using a potentiometer on the panel, ranging from 0 to 45 seconds.
To switch the operation to over speed mode, change the jumper position as shown in the figure below.
Speed Setting Range
The speed setting range is available in three different modes as follows:
Speed range |
Selector |
6-60 RPM |
X1 |
60-600 RPM |
X10 |
600-6000 RPM |
X100 |
Speed Monitor Indicators
- Red LED: Indicates input pulses.
- Green LED: Indicates the status of the output relay.
